Life is a Story We Don’t Write (2025)

This work for viola and string ensemble was commissioned by Vincent Francis using his text. He sent me a large collection of poetry he had written and gave me full permission to take lines from different poems and jigsaw-puzzle them together to create a narrative. It is in five short movements, titled “Spring,” “Summer,” “Autumn,” “Winter,” and “Spring Again.” It was premiered on May 7, 2025, at the Longy School of Music.
